Better Call Saul season 4 filming: When is it happening?
According to a new listings page, the upcoming season of the AMC hit is going to begin production at some point next month in the Albuquerque area of New Mexico. This is the first time that Better Call Saul has kicked off production for a season in January, not that it should come as all that much of a surprise when you consider how the upcoming fourth season is not premiering until fall. There was an extended hiatus this time around which almost certainly allowed for opportunities for the cast and crew to relax, unwind, or potentially dive into some other projects.
It does feel clear that when Better Call Saul season 4 production is back in action there will be a lot for Bob Odenkirk and the rest of the cast to take on. Season 3 ended with the death of Chuck McGill (Michael McKean) and with Jimmy’s personal and professional future in a very dangerous spot. How will he cope with losing his brother, and what’s going to happen now with Kim Wexler? This character is one of the other people remaining on the show whose future really is up in the air at the moment.
If we really wanted to read the tea leaves here on Better Call Saul season 4 filming you could argue that starting in January will allow the series to access more of a colder color palette than they have in the past. It’s slightly below freezing there at night right now and this coldness could be a reflection of where Jimmy McGill is in his life now. We know that Vince Gillian does love to play around with color; as a result of that, it really should not come as too much of a surprise that he also loves to play around with climate.
Maybe after production on Better Call Saul season 4 begins we could start to get a larger sense as to what’s happening in regards to casting — not that we really expect all that much to be announced. One of the things that you have to remember is that this is one of the most secretive series out there on TV.
