Could Steve Urkel appear on Fuller House season 4?
For starters, Full House was visited (in its original run0 by none other than Jaleel White, who played the Urkel character for so many years on Family Matters. Also, Urkel was referenced by DJ near the end of Fuller House season 3, a sign that this crossover is something that the show would like to explore.
In speaking on this subject to TVLine, show boss Jeff Franklin confirmed that there is in fact an interest in trying to get White on Fuller House in the future — nothing is confirmed as of yet, but the discussions appear to be underway:
“I loved when Urkel was on Full House, so I’d love to see him back on Fuller House … I’m good friends with Jaleel, and we’ve talked about it. It’s a really big deal for Jaleel to bring this character back, so I’m not sure that he wants to — but if he does decide to, this would be a great way for him to reprise the character. And who knows, maybe that’ll happen. I’d love to see it. I think everybody’s curious about whatever happened to Steve Urkel, so the audience would really enjoy it. We have some fun ideas, so we’ll see how that shakes out.”
We can imagine why White wouldn’t want to be Urkel again, largely because for many years playing this character basically overshadowed everything else about who he was as actor, which has always been a shame because White is a really great actor and can do a lot more than just Steve Urkel. We do think that it would be a fun little shout-out to see Ukrel again after all this time; as for whether or not it will happen, the ball is firmly in White’s court.
The funniest thing about this idea is the notion that we could see Urkel on this show earlier than we see the Olsen Twins. Who would’ve imagined that a couple of years ago?
