Code Black season 3 filming wraps; premiere date wait continues
In a new post on Twitter showrunner Michael Seitzman confirmed that Friday, December 15 was officially the final day of season 3 production. This means that the cast and crew can go off and work on other projects — for now. That includes Rob Lowe, who is has a new project for himself at Lifetime. Read more about that over here.
Now that this latest batch of episodes are complete we are attempting to figure out why in the world CBS hasn’t given the show a premiere date yet! At this point it feels all but assured that the new season isn’t premiering in either January or February — much of the lineup seems set and CBS is largely going dark with new programming during the Winter Olympics (as is pretty much every other network – no one wants to compete with that ratings monster). Meanwhile, it’s also been figured out that Instinct, (the new series starring Alan Cumming) is replacing Wisdom of the Crowd on Sunday nights. There are no other obvious holes in the network’s schedule so unless a show like a Criminal Minds, a SEAL Team, or a MacGyver ends early, we could be stuck waiting until later spring or even summer to see more of Marcia Gay Harden, Lowe, and the rest of the cast. The only clear alternative would be getting Code Black on Saturdays and that sounds ghastly. We want there to at least be some sort of scenario that gives the show a genuine chance of returning for more.
A good chance to learn more news about the Code Black season 3 premiere date could be at the TCA Winter Press Tour early next year. Let’s just hope that the show gets a time-slot that will allow it to shine and also allow people to see it.
For fans of Seitzman’s work, there is one other show of his that is currently in production: Quantico, which is also set to premiere on ABC at some point in the months ahead.

I, for one, want to see Code Black return to the line-up sooner rather than later. I happen to like this show. I think it deserves a spot in the line up much more so than anything else that CBS is currently showing.
