Outlander odds & ends: Caitriona Balfe, Starz, and Lotte Verbeek

Outlander season 3 episode 9 photos

As we start to come down from our post-finale high, who’s ready for a few new Outlander odds & ends? There are a number of different things worth looking at across the internet … in the event you missed them earlier, of course. CarterMatt has complied them together for you in an Outlander one stop shop within.

The first order of business is a quick reminder if you want to watch Caitriona Balfe on TV again this week — she is appearing on This Morning in Britain! Her tweet below is yet another reminder that even while she is making this appearance, season 4 filming is still going on. (Sam Heughan, alas, is not able to be in attendance on the show due to other commitments.)

For those of you who are not in the UK, have no fear — we’re sure that someone out there will create a video of the appearance. It’s something that we may also discuss more down the line if a video is online. For now, CarterMatt’s Tuesday-morning Outlander update is set to be a discussion on the finale ratings, provided that they release them in time.

Outlander was thankfully the recipient of a good bit of TV press this year, even if some of the appearances have calmed down over the past few weeks. That’s understandable given what we mentioned earlier: Season 4 filming going on! There’s only so much that the cast can do and still have some time for a break. Hopefully, they have that over the holidays; everyone works so hard in order to make this show a success.

Caitriona’s Golden Globe reaction

If you missed it earlier, here is how Balfe responded to receiving her third straight Golden Globe nomination earlier (see the full list over at the link here).

Balfe also received all the love in the world from Heughan and many other cast and crew members after the news came down bright and early this morning. Obviously we would’ve liked to see both Sam and the show nominated (we wrote about that over at the link here in our snubs piece), but we know that she will be a great ambassador for the show and could offer up some teases for season 4 on the Golden Globes red carpet! That show airs on NBC January 7 and we’re going to offer up plenty more news/discussion about that in due time.

Also, a goodbye to Lotte Verbeek

You can see below what Lotte had to say about what seems to be her final episode on the show as Geillis Duncan. Is Geillis done with the story forever? Not necessarily. She may still be included in some other form moving forward — we know that this is not the last time the character is referenced within the Diana Gabaldon source material. For now, though, we want to give her applause for being a really great villain and also one of the most intriguing counterpoints to Claire Fraser out there.

Finally, we leave you with Starz’s preview for what’s ahead in 2018 — there is a tiny glimpse of Outlander season 4 in here, but it’s not any different from the recent teaser that was released.
