Outlander season 4 teaser: Jamie and Claire’s American dream (video)

Following the season 3 finale on Sunday night, Starz uploaded the first Outlander season 4 teaser. How about that for a pleasant surprise?

This teaser is your first video look at the upcoming season, and while simple, it gives you a sense that Jamie and Claire Fraser aren’t going to be heading back towards Scotland anytime soon. America is their home now, and with that, they’re going to do their best in order to turn the American dream into a reality. They’ll have a chance to do that based on where they find themselves. While we don’t want to spoil too much of the book Drums of Autumn here, the two characters are going to find themselves in North Carolina at a place with Fraser family connections. They will have a chance to do there something that they really haven’t had a chance to do since the beginning of the series — put down some roots and really think about the future of their family and their legacy. It’s a very different sort of season than the first three, and there are going to be many new characters to go along with some familiar faces. We know that some have already been cast, but there are also some others that are going to be announced in the weeks/months ahead.

Based on the time in which Jamie and Claire are heading to America (think the late 1760’s), it’s a time period in which there is going to be plenty of chaos with the Revolutionary War on the horizon. With that in mind, don’t just assume that season 4, (or any season that comes after it) will be altogether peaceful. There are many cultural shifts in America that will impact their story and to go along with that further, there will of course be other struggles that befall them based on some of the people they encounter. Expect the return of Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton as Roger and Brianna, to go along with a number of other familiar faces to be reported on in the weeks to come. (We’re still hoping for Murtagh to turn up over there at some point.)

One thing that we think is incredibly important to mention here is the date at the end of the teaser: 2018. That is your verification that Starz is planning to release season 4 around the same time that they released season 3 this year. We don’t think that this is going to be an easy task for production but the timeline is set up in a way that it could happen.
