The Last Post US premiere date, trailer revealed at Amazon
Amazon has announced that starting on December 22, you are going to have a chance to check out the drama series from Peter Moffat that is all about the Royal Military Police and their efforts to persevere in a difficult part of the world in Yemen. You can see more about it in both the trailer and the attached synopsis for the series:
“Written by BAFTA winner Peter Moffat for BBC One, The Last Post is based on childhood memories, his father’s career as an officer in the Royal Military Police and his mother’s struggle between being what the army required her to be and what she felt like being. The Last Post is a close up view of army life set in the heat, glamour and extreme danger of Aden in the 1960s.”
Jessica Raine, Jessie Buckley, Jeremy Neumark Jones, Amanda Drew, Ben Miles and Stephen Campbell Moore round out the show’s cast, and it’s a complicated, emotional series that is right in mind with what you would expect to see at this point from the BBC. The entire first season has already aired in the UK, and by and large we would consider it to be a commercial success there. It’s going to be interesting seeing just what the overall audience is for The Last Post in the US given that the Royal Military Police are probably not a group that many American viewers are familiar with. There’s probably going to be an education that goes along with watching the show — it’s seeing how another group lived in the 1960’s, and it’s also a reminder of just how vast this world truly is. This is a place where there are many devastating things that happen on an almost-constant basis, but at the same time there are still victories.
For now, the future in The Last Post in the UK is still unclear — the show finding some success in America probably would go a long way in helping to bring out even more stories in the future.
