Arrow season 6 episode 7 preview: Thanksgiving with Oliver and Felicity

Next week Arrow season 6 episode 7 is airing an episode entitled … well, “Thanksgiving.” That makes sense given that the show is airing on Thanksgiving.

What in the world is The CW doing here? The simple explanation is that they want to keep Arrow and its episode count on the same pace as all of the other shows in the DC Comics universe — since Supergirl, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow are all airing next week, Mark Pedowitz must have felt like it makes sense for this one to air, as well.

OLIVER AND FELICITY CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING WITH WILLIAM – Oliver (Stephen Amell) celebrates Thanksgiving with his family but the happy moment is interrupted. Meanwhile, Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) returns to wreak havoc on the holiday. Gord Verheul directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Speed Weed (#607). Original airdate 11/23/2017.

The one thing that we are happy about when it comes to this story is this: The show actually being themed around the holiday. If you’re going to run the ratings risk of airing on Thanksgiving, you may as well try to make the entire story be themed about the holiday, as well. There is something fun, domestic, and different about getting to see Oliver and his family try to celebrate the holiday like a normal person — other than Christmas / Hanukkah, we haven’t gotten a chance to see too many holidays on Arrow and some of these other shows. It should help this episode stand out.

Also, it’s awesome that we are going to be seeing Black Siren again! There are a couple of appearances coming for Katie Cassidy before the end of the calendar year and whatever we see here should carry over to the next one. The same goes for the Crisis on Earth-X crossover, given that this is the final episode of the show airing until we get around to that momentous occasion. (Expect to see many sides of Oliver during the crossover.)
