Outlander season 3 episode 10 photos: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe apart (again)
What’s going on this time? It’s very different than when Claire went through the stones at the end of season 2 under her own accord. She’s been captured and brought over by Captain Leonard over to the British ship, where she is going to be enlisted to help stop the spread of a deadly plague. While this situation is far from ideal for her, we do think that she doesn’t have much in the way of a choice in the matter. She has to try and help some of these people! Otherwise, she runs the risk of not making it to Jamaica either because A) they choose to punish her in some way or B) she ends up becoming ill herself. There are so many things that can go wrong, so she needs to emphasize finding a way to do some good on this ship before things get any worse.
Ultimately, Claire will show herself to be a willing participant aboard the ship as doctor. You don’t see a gun to her head in any of these images, and because of her profession she is sworn to help whoever needs her. It looks as though she’s also going to have a little bit of help ensuring that some of her patients are okay, which may make it just a trifle more feasible.
Will she still be thinking of making it back to Jamie every second of the way? Given that she traveled so far back in time in order to see him, that feels as though it’s a given!
As for Jamie…
These second set of photos showcase Heughan’s character, and while things at first may appear to be okay with him, it’s not going to stay that way. Once he finds out more about Captain Raines and his role in getting Claire over to the British ship he’s going to lash out — which, in turn, is why there is a gun pointed at his head. He’s already found himself in a familiar position separated from Claire, and he’s about to find himself in another — imprisoned.
Will there be some help that comes his way? Potentially yes, given that he does have an ally aboard the ship in Fergus who has saved him from some difficult binds before. In the Outlander season 3 episode 10 promo, Jamie seems to make a promise to him — if he helps him escape this predicament, he will offer to him his blessing to be with Marsali. The twist here of course is that if Fergus does help, he is in turn putting himself at risk. There are a lot of key decisions coming up on “Heaven & Earth,” and that makes the material all the more rich.

This season is much better than S2. I️ didn’t like S2 at all. They were kept apart for almost 5 episodes. I️ dreaded each episode. It could have been so much better if they followed the book and Jamie recovered in S1. Jamie never treated Claire the way he did in S2. S1 was the best. It was mesmerizing. I️ was completely caught up in it. I️ can say I️ like S3 a lot. They should have given Jamie more grey to match Claire. He looks exactly the same and she looks older.

I have to agree with you: between season 1 and 2, for me, season 1 was truly exceptional and neither of the following seasons have compared. But I was still intrigued by season 2 especially because the book was so convoluted I think the show did a great job of cleaning things up and repackaging them in a way that made it easier to follow. I think my expectations were set too high with season 3 and Voyager is such a phenomenal book then I feel somewhat disappointed in the adaptation. Season 3 has had some beautiful moments but it’s just not coming together for me the way I imagined it would.

There have been so many deviations, I am not sure how the plot will come together in the end?! The characters have been twisted as well – Jamie would never have had to bribe Fergus to help him – Fergus loves him like a father. I am not looking as forward to the show as I did in Season 1 or 2. I feel as though we were promised the world with Season 3 and shortchanged, so to speak.
