Blindspot season 3 episode 6 spoilers: Jane, Weller, and the movie-set mission

To us, there is always something fun about watching a scripted show get meta, and Blindspot season 3 episode 6 offers that opportunity. Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton are already filming a TV series, but on the upcoming December 8 installment they will be playing Jane and Weller pretending to be other characters involved in a different production altogether. Are they playing actors? If so, that’d make it all the more entertaining — you’d have actors playing characters who are pretending to be actors playing other characters. Try to say a sentence like that five times fast; your head may very well explode.

This upcoming episode is entitled “Adoring Suspect,” and the synopsis CarterMatt has for you below makes it clear that there is a major dramatic component to this episode to go along with the undercover case:

12/08/2017 (08:00PM – 09:00PM) (Friday) : The team goes undercover on a movie set to stop a terrorist plot with unlikely backers. Roman (Luke Mitchell) blackmails Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) with a horrible secret about Jane (Jaimie Alexander). Also starring Rob Brown (Edgar Reade) and Audrey Esparza (Tasha Zapata) and Ashley Johnson (Patterson). Guest Starring Mary Stuart Masterson (Eleanor Hirst), Tori Anderson (Blake), Ennis Esmer (Rich Dotcom), Malcolm David Kelley (Keith Rhodes), Miguel Fernandez (Santiago), Misha Kuznetsov (Niko Popov) and Paul F. Tompkins (Booky Bentley).

From the onset of this season it’s been clear that Roman had something on Weller, and given that he’s not the nicest of guys, you can’t be altogether shocked that he is finding ways to use whatever information that he has against him. He’ll make his life as much of a living hell for as long as he can.

Beyond just the story of this episode, can we admire for a moment that this episode has Paul F. Tompkins in it? The man has one of the most spectacular mustaches in all of show business (outside of Tom Selleck of course), and beyond that we love the fact that he’s playing a character named Booky Bentley. It’s hard to determine which name is better — this one or his BoJack Horseman character of Mr. Peanutbutter. In general, Tompkins needs more live-action credits these days — he’s already doing a ton of voice work. Just in the past year alone he’s done BoJack, Tangled, Bob’s Burgers, and DuckTales. Not a bad assortment at all.
