Jesse Lee Soffer’s Jay Halstead set to go undercover in Chicago PD season 4 sneak peek

Jesse Lee Soffer

Wednesday night’s new episode of Chicago PD is going to offer up a chance for Jesse Lee Soffer’s Jay Halstead to take on an undercover case like no other.

For a prime example of what you can see, just take a look at the sneak peek below! In this, you can see Halstead doing everything that he can in order to figure out how to get to a suspect. This suspect is a man who served in the Army Rangers for many years before going off to South America to become a contract employee. All of this basically translates to mean that he has seen some serious stuff. He’s been in terrible situations, and he’s also well-insulated from Intelligence in that they don’t have enough of him to bring him in. They have to tread with caution to get the information that they need from him — hence, why Halstead wants to go undercover to take on this operation. He has a few things in common with this suspect — they both served at around the same time and may be able to relate to one another. He doesn’t think that he will be able to spook him, instead, he thinks that he can offer up some valuable information that should prove rather helpful to the case as a whole.

Is everyone else on board with Jay’s plan? Not exactly. Both Antonio and Voight seem to be on the fence about it, and Hailey Upton makes things very clear that she is “neutral” on the plan. Is she still reeling from the McGrady incident in the show last week? We’re starting to wonder that based on how she acts towards Voight here — she seems fairly stoic.

This sneak peek should at the very least set the stage for an emotional episode, one that offers up an opportunity to understand more of how Jay is feeling this season after all he has been through. This is a man who saw Lindsay leave him to go to New York, and also shot an innocent person by accident earlier this season. We would imagine that these two events would leave a mark on Halstead beyond just a couple of episodes and for that reason, we hope that they are brought up here. With Lindsay in particular she was more than just someone he was in love with — she was also his partner, so his story with her extended into just about every aspect of his life.
