Supernatural season 13 episode 5 preview: The Castiel, Sam, & Dean story
Also, there’s another familiar face coming on board the episode: Billie! This is her first confirmed appearance on the show since the installment “First Blood” almost a year ago, and how she finds herself roped into the case next week is going to be a bit of a surprise.
For a little more insight, check out the Supernatural season 13 episode 5 synopsis CarterMatt has for you below:
While working on a case involving the ghost of a demented doctor, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) get assistance from an unexpected source – Billie (guest star Lisa Berry). Castiel (Misha Collins) finds his way back to the Winchesters. John Showalter directed the episode written by Steve Yockey (#1305). Original airdate 11/9/2017.
This episode is entitled “Advanced Thanatology,” and for those wondering thanatology is defined as “the scientific study of death and the practices associated with it, including the study of the needs of the terminally ill and their families.” Given that Supernatural is a show really steeped in death this could apply to the story in a wide array of different ways. Sooner or later the series is going to have to examine more of what death means to Sam and Dean in particular; can they take it seriously anymore after so many people haven’t really died; or, at the same time maybe they’re haunted so much by death because at the time in which people go, they believe that they’re really gone — and they’ve lost SO many people over the years.
For the record, we know that there are some previously-dead characters who are coming back on the show at some point this season — and at the top of the list is none other than Kevin. The more Osric Chau we get the happier we’ll be.
The promo below doesn’t offer up too much else when it comes to scoop, but it is absolutely very much entertaining.
