Timeless season 2 summer timeslots: What are the best ones?

With filming finally almost here, what better time is there to discuss Timeless season 2 summer time-slots than right now? We know that you are probably impatiently awaiting it’s return as much as we are here at CarterMatt.

The first thing that we should kick off this article with is that it’s not 100% guaranteed that the NBC series will premiere this summer; it could easily be in the spring instead. Personally, we’re starting to think that the summer could be a better choice just because there are some better time-slots for it there, coupled with the fact that there are also some lesser ratings expectations for the most part. NBC may have a reasonably-packed summer schedule these days, but we like to think that there could be a spot for the Abigail Spencer – Matt Lanter series in here somewhere.

Here are four timeslots that we could feasibly see being great fits for the show — we’d obviously love to see it air on Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern after America’s Got Talent, but that doesn’t seem realistic if World of Dance stays there. NBC has a great lineup there and probably doesn’t need to change it.

Mondays at 10:00 – This is ironically the spot it aired at during its first season, and while it’s a little late for family audiences it may be aided by the fact that it’s summer where people typically stay up a little later. Plus, it would air immediately after American Ninja Warrior and capitalize on that lead-in.

The only issue with this spot is that in the event NBC renews Midnight, Texas. There’s really only room for one of the two shows here unless you get creative and do some crazy scheduling with either two-hour episodes or two episodes of the show in a week.

Wednesdays at 9:00 – This would be pretty perfect — air it after America’s Got Talent for the first eight weeks of the summer, and you can do both a two-hour premiere and finale in this spot. Then, Marlon can take over for the rest of the summer. It’s early enough for families to watch together and it also gives the show the best chance possible for growth.

Thursdays at 8:00 – In terms of being on early in the evening this would be super-appealing, but is airing against The Big Bang Theory repeats, so is this a great move? You would also need to displace some NBC game show to make the move work.

Thursdays at 10:00 – We wouldn’t be shocked at all if Timeless ends up here if it airs in the summer. With the cancellation of The Night Shift they now have a gaping hole in the schedule here.

No matter if Timeless premieres in either the spring or the summer, the big challenge is that it’ll have been off the year for more than a year and with that, casual fans may not even be aware that it’s coming back! Best to start spreading the word now, right?
