Chicago PD alum Sophia Bush plotting new TV return
According to a report from Deadline, Bush has signed a new deal with 20th Century Fox TV to develop either a new comedy or drama series on this upcoming pilot season; meanwhile, she could also develop additional projects for the studio as an executive producer.
In a statement confirming the news, Bush had the following to say:
“Now more than ever, vital female voices need to be heard. I’m thrilled to begin developing content that inspires and excites me at 20th Century Fox TV.”
Meanwhile, Sharon Klein, Fox Television Group EVP of Casting for the aforementioned studio, had the following to add:
“We’ve been great admirers of Sophia for years and after meeting, we knew we wanted to be in business with her. She’s smart, she’s passionate, and she brings great ideas and energy to the table. This deal is about developing with her as well as casting her into a comedy or drama this pilot season. She’s a giant TV star and we’re thrilled to have her exclusively at FTG.”
Just because there is a pilot out there with Sophia Bush on board does not mean a network will be picking it up; nonetheless, this is still something to watch out for as we get closer to the start of pilot season really getting off the ground late this year/early next. Bush is a top-tier actress and it is no surprise to see her wanting to front her own show in the near future. Since leaving Chicago PD she has remained active as an activist on social media and doing a wide array of other projects beyond performing. Whether or not this deal materializes is based mostly on the material she receives and whether or not it is able to generate a substantial following among possible viewers. One of the reasons why her previous job was so popular was because it was able to access a large mainstream following that checked off many different boxes.
