Lethal Weapon ratings drop; This Is Us season 2, NCIS: New Orleans steady

Lethal Weapon ratings

We’ve been interested in tracking the Lethal Weapon ratings for many different reasons this fall … and we wish we had better news today.

One of the reasons for said tracking is because of a rather dubious decision on the part of Fox. Why in the world would the network want to air new episodes of this show, a crime drama with comedic elements, up against an established crime drama with comedic elements in NCIS? We didn’t get it, and with Tuesday’s episode hitting a low in a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic we’re starting to get a little more worried about its future. In general we’re worried about Fox’s Tuesday lineup just because it’s been a hot mess ever since Glee was in its heyday and New Girl originally started off with some really great ratings.

The one that is going for Lethal Weapon, like so many other shows out there on Fox at the moment, is simply that the ratings are such that there aren’t astronomical expectations for the show. It could be renewed with a lower rating than many other shows on other networks.

Speaking of shows we’re worried about, another one is The Mayor on ABC. Despite being one of the most charming new entries of the season it felt to a new low of its own last night in a 0.8. Speaking of Glee, is Lea Michele going to have another TV hit anytime soon? First it was Scream Queens, and now this show is starting to struggle.

Here’s the good news on the night

There were a lot of shows that, as a whole, were pretty steady week to week. NCIS: New Orleans and Law & Order: True Crime both held firm to a 1.1, whereas Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is probably doing enough to stay on the air with a 0.8 that matched its lead-in.

Meanwhile, the big winner of the night was once again This Is Uswhich is doing a good job holding firm to its 2.8. To us, NBC will be able to do a victory parade if the season 2 average rises or stays the same from season 1. As of right now the drama is up 18% in the demo and over 15% in total viewers; we do think that average will fall slightly, but if it’s fairly steady the rest of the way the network will still probably do a conga line around the office in celebration.

CW update

The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow each dropped to a 0.9 and 0.5 versus their premiere ratings. Neither one of these shows is in any danger right now but we’re still bummed about the latter — Legends of Tomorrow has become one of the best shows on the entire network, mostly because it’s so silly and is relentlessly entertaining.
