MacGyver season 2 episode 4 spoilers: Murdoc returning!
It was only a matter of time before David Dastmalchian came back on the show as the infamous character, given that he escaped in the season 1 finale and has made it known that he takes great pleasure in engaging in a battle of wits with the title character. He’s dangerous, resourceful, and incredibly manipulative — he’s shown already that even an advanced cell cannot hold him in prison. Trying to keep him imprisoned is going to be a big challenge for the Phoenix Foundation or anyone else who wants to try; for the time being, we feel like they’re just going to focus on capturing him and figuring out the rest once that goal is achieved.
Below, the CBS synopsis makes it seem as though Murdoc is actually going to be doing most of the capturing instead:
“X-Ray + Penny” – When Murdoc drugs and kidnaps MacGyver, Mac uses a needle and his teeth to escape and join the team to save Murdoc’s next victim, on MACGYVER, Friday, Oct. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. David Dastmalchian returns as Murdoc.
The best thing via this synopsis is a chance to see Lucas Till and Dastmalchian in some more scenes together given how electric some of theirs were near the end of season 1. Beyond that, there are other interesting questions. Take, for example, the identity of Murdoc’s victim. Is it someone we know or someone random? Is that a way for him to manipulate MacGyver more?
No matter how this story winds up we have a hard time imagining that this is the last time that we see Murdoc this season. If we’re to think of MacGyver as some sort of proper superhero movie, he is the Joker to the title character’s Batman. He will probably remain a thorn in the side of the team however long the show sticks around (so we hope) nd you just have to be prepared for that. Hopefully the team equally prepared, given that if Murdoc loses here he’ll probably just take that as more motivation to go off and cause even more trouble for them.
