Hawaii Five-0 season 8: Should Steve and Danny’s restaurant open this season?
One of the questions here from a storytelling standpoint comes in the pacing of it all. You want to present a lot of good stuff when it comes to the story and the cases, and you also don’t want to open the restaurant in a few weeks’ time acting as though the process is easy. It’s not. There is no guarantee the restaurant opens, and even if it does there is no guarantee that it sustains itself longer than a few weeks.
Personally, what we would like to see is it potentially opening at the end of the season, but in a way that doesn’t keep Steve and Danny from doing the jobs that they already have. Maybe they’ll find someone to run the day-to-day operation of the place and they have the ability to just pop in here and there as the two of them see fit. Or, maybe they’ll figure out a way to ensure that they have time for both. Once you’ve gotten this far along into the restaurant story you have to pay it off; with that being said, you also don’t want to do something where you run the risk of Steve and Danny leaving Five-0 before there is more story to tell there. We’re still very much hoping that there is not only a season 9, but that Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan are on board with doing more.
In the end the big thing to do is just watch and see what happens. We’ve got faith in the writers here at CarterMatt to craft something fun for these characters, and it should serve as a nice source of comic relief if nothing else. We do know that Steve and Danny do love to argue, and this is a specific venue in which these said arguments will go to another level entirely.
