Supergirl season 3 episode 2 preview: Jane the Virgin star appears as Psi

Supergirl season 3 episode 2

When Supergirl season 3 episode 2 airs on The CW on October 16, there will be a new villain — plus also some network synergy.

After all, this episode (entitled “Triggers”) is going to feature an appearance from Yael Grobglas of Jane the Virgin in the role of Psi, a woman who possesses some very unique powers. She feels in some ways like this show’s version of Scarecrow from the Batman comics, given that she is able to use the worst fears of those around her to suit her own means. She’s smart, she’s dangerous, and she can take on Kara by playing with her mind. We know that physically Supergirl is pretty tough to defeat. Therefore, some of her opponents have to find a way to get creative.

Below in our CarterMatt preview, you can get a sense of a few more things you can expect to see over the course of the episode.

Supergirl season 3 episode 2 synopsis – “Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), a thief with psychic powers, attacks National City. Able to immobilize people by tapping into their worst fears, Psi proves a formidable opponent for Supergirl. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) are at an impasse, and Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#302). Original airdate 10/16/2017.”

One of the things we’re the most interested in seeing here is what happens with the steady evolution of the Samantha character. When we meet her it’s already been established that many of her powers as Reign are still going to be dormant — she’s not even going to know about them. Therefore, when does she start to figure things out, and how quickly will more signs be present to us as a viewer? Both are interesting questions, and with her working at L-Corp we will see Samantha be attached to some other characters. She could for some attachments there, which is both great for her but also terrible down the road since it may make them have a harder time detecting that something is terribly amiss with her.

The promo below offers you up more of an introduction into the Psi character, including how powerful she is and the threat she poses Kara Danvers. Even if this appearance is brief, it could still be worthwhile. (After all, Grobglas is rather busy with another show — she can’t stick around for long!)
