Ink Master: Return of the Masters: Steve Tefft, Anthony Michaels to star
When the show returns this January, one of the biggest things that you’re going to see is the return of some former Masters who are going to come on board and try to take some other contestants under their wing. It seems somewhat similar to the Peck vs. Nunez season with that. It was confirmed tonight that both Steve Tefft of season 2 and Anthony Michaels of season 7 were going to serve as judges, but would they be the only ones? We may have to wait to figure that out, but we know it’d be fun to see some other winners of the show come back — the franchise actually has done a lot more over the years with the runners-up than the winners, mostly by virtue of the fact that it’s probably easier to create story around someone who got very close but fell short at the very end.
One other thing that is known is that it looks like this show will be impacted by what happens during Ink Master: Angels, the spin-off show that is airing on Spike starting next week. You can see the latest preview for that here, but it looks as though at least one person from that show could have the chance to come over to this season and compete for the grand prize. It’s synergy! Also, that’s a great reason to keep watching that show since you know that there is going to ultimately be some stuff that ends up carrying over to some of what you see in season 10.
Here’s probably the best news of all about Ink Master: Return of the Masters. It doesn’t sound like any of the returning artists are actually competing with the newbies this time around. That premise has been fun, but at the same time we don’t like the way that the franchise does them with them only having to compete in a small fraction of the overall season.
One last reminder
When Ink Master: Return of the Masters actually airs, it’s going to be on the Paramount Network rather than Spike. The network is branding, but by and large the remainder of the content is going to be the same. Just be sure to keep this in mind come January when you’re scrolling through your channels and wondering why in the world you aren’t finding the show.
