MasterChef’s Gordon Ramsay bringing 24 Hours to Hell & Back to Fox
Just in case you’re not getting enough Gordon Ramsay on Fox with MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen, prepare for something new. Today, Fox has confirmed a new addition to Ramsay’s roster of shows in 24 Hours to Hell & Back, which is going to be airing on Fox.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this show is going to hold some similarities to another one of Ramsay’s previous shows in Kitchen Nightmares, namely in that at the heart of the show is going to be Ramsay and his team doing what he can in order to help restaurants. However, the difference here is that he’ll be showing up with an enormous truck that unfolds into a mobile kitchen like no other, and he’ll use that to help create new menus and ideas in order to give culinary establishments a second life. Basically, he’ll be trying to do an episode of Kitchen Nightmares in 24 hours, which makes it seem as though he is going to become the culinary version of Jack Bauer. (We can certainly imagine Gordon kicking people through windows like Jack did in 24: Live Another Day.)
In a statement about this upcoming show, Ramsay had the following to say:
“With the clock set at 24 hours-and-ticking, I can promise you this culinary boot camp gives a whole new meaning to Hell on Wheels.”
Meanwhile, Fox’s own President of Alternative Programming and Specials Rob Wade added the following:
“The restaurant business is one of the toughest there is – and no one knows that more than Gordon … Watching him try to save these businesses, not to mention restore the livelihoods of hardworking men and women, really puts the pressure on – and doing this as the clock ticks, challenges him like never before.”
It should be clear at the moment why Fox loves Ramsay so much, given that he continuously makes hit show after hit show with them. While The F Word this summer wasn’t necessarily a huge hit, Hell’s Kitchen remains a staple and is entering its first-ever All-Stars season. Meanwhile, Kitchen Nightmares was successful for many years and he also has MasterChef and MasterChef Junior performing well at various times of the year. This is a guy who knows how to by dynamic and create good drama. What we at CarterMatt like about the Kitchen Nightmares version of Ramsay is that he can be fiery and angry, but also still very sweet and genuine. We do think that he legitimately wants to help people in need of his assistance, though there is something rather depressing that comes with going back and seeing how many of the businesses that ended up on that show are actually still around and successful today. The track record long-term wasn’t that great, but you can argue that many of these places would have closed even earlier were it not for him and his assistance.
