David Lynch: No plans on making Twin Peaks season 4 happen

Is a Twin Peaks season 4 going to happen? Maybe it’s a dream for many fans out there, but it’s not exactly one that looks as though it’s going to becoming a reality soon. After all, the third season just finished!

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director (understandably) confirmed that there are not any real conversations going on regarding more of the show. That doesn’t mean that the show won’t continue, but it could still be a good while:

“No, we haven’t talked. The thing just finished! … Even if there was more, it would be four years from now before anyone would see it. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Basically, what Lynch is really trying to say is that if you loved the first Twin Peaks, you are probably going to have to wait a rather long time still in order to get to see more of the show. There was a wait of decades between the first two seasons and the revival on Showtime, so it could be a rather long time yet again here.

For now, we’re just assuming that it’s the end of the road just because it feels like there are so many people out there at the moment chasing a dream that is never going to come to fruition. You may want another season of Twin Peaks, but at the same time we think you’ll be forever chasing something that just isn’t here if you continue to want to get more of this show. There is no more reason to continue the franchise other than that there’s a desire for more story. There is never going to be all that much of a cohesive ending to this show, given that Lynch and Mark Frost would just come up with some other way to end the show down the road.

For now, just be prepared to check out some other great stories coming on Showtime in the future, given that there is going to be a lot to look forward to. After all, they just announced that they’re working on a show with Jim Carrey! You’ve got a lot to enjoy while you wonder about whether or not there is going to be another visit to this famed community in the future.

Do you think that David Lynch should make more Twin Peaks?
