The X-Files season 11: Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny sharing footage next month
On Tuesday, 20th Century Fox confirmed that the three aforementioned stars, (along with franchise creator Chris Carter) are all going to be present at New York Comic-Con on Sunday, October 9 at the Javits Center’s Main Stage. While there, they are going to present some of the first footage for the upcoming season. This is certainly a reason to go to the convention this year, and as we’ve seen already, this is starting to become a tradition for the show. They did something similar two years ago at New York Comic-Con, as the first footage from the long-awaited X-Files “revival” (otherwise known as season 10) was shown revealed to fans.
One of the things that actually excites us the most about The X-Files season 11 is that we know almost nothing about it. The show ended up with Mulder and Scully in a desperate position, one where they may need the very person they previously chose to give up: Their child. They wanted their child to have a better life, and maybe they have that; yet, there are so many questions that still need to be answered. Maybe some of that will be unveiled within both the first and final episodes of the season. In between, we’re looking more at outside-the-box episodes that tell more standalone stories. These, (at least to us) are the bread and butter of what makes The X-Files as great as it is. There are three shows on TV that we feel do an exceptional job at capturing some of these stand alone stories and those shows are: X-Files, Law & Order: SVU, and Supernatural. The latter show in particular probably looks a lot towards Mulder, Scully, and company as a model of how to do this right.
In general, the one thing that we can count on is that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are going to give us some great performances, and there will be opportunities to see some really interesting stuff happen when it comes to standalone episodes. There are ten installments this time around, which should help the show feel a little bit more stable and a little less like a tiny blip on the radar.
