Supernatural actress joins Legends of Tomorrow season 2 — what’s the Brandon Routh connection?

Brandon Routh

There’s a reason to be excited about the latest Legends of Tomorrow season 2 casting news, especially if you are Brandon Routh.

After all, you’re going to be getting to see his real-life wife Courtney Ford on the show! As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Ford (whose credits include Supernatural this past season as well as True Blood) is going to make a number of appearances on the show as Eleanor, the daughter of Damien Darhk. It’s probably not the sort of person who Ray Palmer should be involved with (the report claims that there’s a chance they could become romantically intertwined), which probably means that she has a lot in common with some of his other past love interests. (Both Felicity Smoak and Kendra Saunders were, shall we say, reasonably unavailable.) This character is described by the publication as “smart and cunning with a charming dose of otherworldly creepiness — think Wednesday Addams all grown up. Her innocent looks can be disarming, but it’s all an act. This woman is dangerous with an uncanny ability to manipulate others, and is able to tell people exactly what they want to hear. She’s highly intelligent and is always several moves ahead. Her unique dark talents all stem from the fact that she is Damien Darhk’s daughter.”

Is she a full-on villain, or just someone who is plotting ahead in order to preserve her own self-interests? It should be interesting to learn, just as it will be interesting to see if Ray’s eternal optimism could cause her to turn around in some way. One way or another, this should prove exciting. Neal McDonough is already appearing as a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow this season, so rest assured that you are going to get plenty of Damien over the course of the season.

In addition to the casting being rather fun for Brandon Routh in terms of getting to work alongside his wife, we figure that it also must be rather nice to just have the two located in the same place for a long period of time. That’s also something that the two parties benefited from heavily last year, given that Supernatural also films in Vancouver alongside all of the CW superhero shows.

Legends of Tomorrow season 2 premieres on The CW alter this fall, and judging from the recent trailer released by the network there’s going to be all sorts of fun stuff coming your way — including a circus episode, Julius Caesar, and Kuasa as one of the major villains. This should be a season that continues the momentum of a super-fun past year of the show. Even if we did have the Legion of Doom on the loose, it never felt as though the show was overly dark (Darhk?) or depressing.
