America’s Got Talent: Oskar and Gaspar, Final Draft return as wild cards

Oskar and Gaspar

For everyone excited about Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talenthere’s another reason to be: Oskar and Gaspar are back!

If you remember these two, their unique video-mapping act featuring Heidi Klum was one of the most creative things seen during the audition round. However, they were suspiciously gone from the Judge Cuts round, and we had no clue what transpired with them. (This isn’t really that unusual, as it happens with a few acts every year for various reasons.)

Luckily, these two are going to be coming back on the show Tuesday for a chance at winning over viewers, and they should be a cool addition to the show just because they do something so different and visual from what most other acts do. The video below, if you haven’t seen it, is completely worth watching. We just wonder now if they are going to use another judge as a backdrop, or find some other way to do something unique and different.

One other thing that was pretty interesting about this group conceptually was that you never actually met the two people behind the act — instead, the men you met during the audition were really just ambassadors for what was being brought to the stage. It’s innovative, it’s smart, and it’s a little bit weird — really, this is the sort of thing that you should want to see on the show. The biggest thing that we do worry about is that most viewers at home are not going to understand the level of precision and commitment that goes into making this.

Meanwhile, there is another wild card act that is also coming to the show in music group Final Draft. If you remember, they had one of the best auditions during the start of the season; unfortunately, they later found themselves eliminated after a performance during the Judge Cuts that was missing some of it was that made them great the first time around. The song choice, for one, just wasn’t right for them — and we say that as someone who really loves “Somewhere Only We Know” from Keane. This marks a chance at redemption for them, and given America’s love for singers (there are many of them that have advanced to the next round), they have a chance of advancing if they bring to the table some of what they did the first time that they were on the stage.

In general, we think that the AGT stage probably needs both of these acts to shake things up a little bit. Even if Final Draft are singers and there are a TON of them remaining in the competition, they do at least bring something new in terms of style. Also, many of the other singers still around at this point are all vocal acts.
