American Horror Story: Cult: What should happen in premiere?
With this, how much should the folks over at FX be willing to give away about the story in the premiere episode? There’s a great deal of mystery still circulating around Cult, and with that there is this enormous responsibility on the first episode to come out and deliver. That can be challenging at times, but also exciting in some other ways when you think for a minute about everything foreseeably that the show could throw out there. Maybe they introduce just a few characters, or maybe they go in guns-blazing.
Without knowing which way the pendulum is going to swing, take a look now at what some of our personal expectations are.
1. Keep things small – This is a franchise with an enormous cast, but we feel like Roanoke really did a good job of not throwing so many darts on the board right away. They allowed us to slowly get to know some of the characters over time, and that was extremely useful as opposed to pulling a Hotel where our head was constantly spinning for the entire season.
2. Establish the theme – Obviously, cults are a part of this, but we think this is a season that is geared a little bit more around some of the terrors that come with control. How dangerous is it when you give someone too much of a foothold on how others think, and is there a way for some of these indoctrinated people to shake things off? Don’t waste time, since there needs to be plenty of time to explore this.
3. Have an epic tease at the episode’s end – Cliffhangers can be frustrating sometimes, but the American Horror Story series needs to do a better
