This Is Us season 2: what could happen to Rebecca Pearson?

In the Emmy-nominated series, This Is Us, fans have fallen in love with the family that stole our hearts for so many different reasons. We have seen each of them struggle and prosper and we feel as though we know them personally. Among the family is matriarch Rebecca Pearson. She is a fighter, a mother, and a strong wife. She doesn’t let anyone push her around and she’s determined to give her children the best life possible.

Mandy Moore plays Rebecca flawlessly and effortlessly. She brings Rebecca to life in a way only Moore could. Anyone who is a mother and watches the show, sees the similarities between Rebecca and themselves as Rebecca is the glue that holds everything together. So going into Season 2 how can the series continue to use her a valuable asset?

Rebecca’s midlife –  Now the show has shown her during this time when the kids are teenagers, but we would like to see more of this part of her life. Fans are aware that this part of her life is close to when she will be a single mother and, because of that, we want to know as much as possible. We know she and Jack hit a rough patch in their marriage during this time so we hope that the show dives into more of what her feelings were.

We also believe that the series is trying to squeeze a powerful love story into such a small lifespan, so of course there are going to be rough patches. We also believe that the writers could throw every possible punch at Jack and Rebecca before his death in an attempt to immortalize their love for one another. To do this, the writers have to get people to cheer for the couple and feel the same emotions they are. The process of doing this will be an interesting and exciting ride for fans.

Rebecca’s new husband, Miguel – During Season 1, Miguel and Rebecca’s marriage was never given any background. Fans were left to wonder how the two ended up together after what they thought was the perfect marriage between her and Jack. So going into Season 2, we hope the show delivers some answers on Miguel and Rebecca’s relationship.

However, we hope that the story is told through Rebecca’s eyes, as to allow the fans to hopefully accept Miguel as her husband. We aren’t saying it will be instant, but as their story unfolds we hope to see Rebecca conflicted. This would allow Moore to potentially have some powerful moments and to really show fans more of who Rebecca is. Moore is an amazing actress and the show should allow her to show off her talents in some intensely emotional scenes.

Rebecca’s current relationship with her children –  It was announced at the TCA 2017 summer press tour that Mandy Moore would spend a lot of time as the older Rebecca and, as a result, we hope to see her interact with her children. We know they love her and care for her, but what is the state of their relationship? Fans got a glance at her and Randall’s relationship, but Kevin and Kate’s was really never revealed. It would be great to have some background on these relationships because they are so fascinating. It would also allow Moore more scene time and reveal little by little more of who Rebecca became after Jack’s death.

Overall, Rebecca Pearson is a strong wife, mother, and woman who deserves to show all of these wonderful characteristics.
