Outlander season 3: Starz launches community; Caitriona Balfe – Sam Heughan videos

The promotional efforts for Outlander season 3 are starting to bear additional fruit, and today, it’s coming in a beautiful way.

If you head over to the link here, you can take a look at a brand-new community that has been created by Starz leading up to the September 10 premiere. This is about as fantastic of a resource as you’re going to get from the network. You’ve got the show’s principal theme, a timeline of Claire and Jamie Fraser’s history, some videos, and also easy access to many of the show’s social channels. It’s fairly comprehensive and serves as a great way to preview season 3 — even if you are not all that familiar with the Diana Gabaldon source material, or if you are a casual viewer and haven’t thought that much about Outlander much since the second season ended with “Dragonfly in Amber.”

One of the things that the show really should be doing at this point is making things as interactive and accessible as possible. This is, in part, why this website is such an enormous win for Starz from a marketing standpoint. You want to make things convenient, especially for people who only have a few minutes and don’t want to visit multiple different websites for resources related to the show.

Also, the word “community” is a great reference term when you consider how close and tight-knit the show’s fan following is — it’s one of the most supportive fandoms that are out there. Why else do you think that Outlander is the reigning Show of the Year champion in the CarterMatt Awards?

Play around on the community website for a while this morning — hopefully, it helps to make the Droughtlander a little less exhausting.

New Caitriona Balfe – Sam Heughan videos

While you continue to wait for the premiere and/or explore the new community site, take a look at the new Hollywood Foreign Press Association – Golden Globes videos below featuring two-time nominee Balfe and her co-star Sam Heughan. These videos are effectively all about some of their best career advice that they’ve received.

In addition to providing the videos, we’ve also got transcripts below in case you’re in a place where you can’t watch them.

Balfe – “Stand in your power. I think that’s something that, when you’re new to an industry, [it’s important], and for women in general it’s good to know and it’s good to hear again that we are very powerful beings, and we have as much a right to our opinions as anyone else. It’s very important to stand in your power.”

Heughan – “Always say yes, to anything. Yes. Whether it’s ‘would you like extra fries with that’ or ‘do you want to do this job?’ Being open to anything, for sure. Anything can happen, and certainly in this career, it certainly does.”

Outlander season 3 will be eligible for the 2018 Golden Globes, and hopefully, the show’s fall premiere will be conducive to generating more buzz than ever. This is the awards show that has rewarded the show the most over the past two years; it’d be nice to see both Balfe and Heughan up for a nomination this time!
