Hawaii Five-0 season 8 spoilers: Joey Lawrence set to guest star!
As reported by Variety, the former Blossom and Melissa & Joey star is going to be appearing on two upcoming episodes in the role of Aaron Wright, the brother of notorious hacker Ian Wright who was played by Nick Jonas on the show. Given that Ian was killed off previously, there is no way to bring him back; nonetheless, adding his brother should offer up some opportunities to flesh out a little bit more of that story and see how he feels about what transpired there with him and Wo Fat.
If nothing else, it’s a noteworthy guest star on a show we like, and someone who is well-known for playing a wide array of fun characters. Hawaii Five-0 does have a tendency to let its characters take part in some funny moments, but given what happened to Aaron’s brother, we’re not sure how much he’s going to be there for laughs as opposed to just meaning business and looking for closure.
Lawrence’s appearances mark the second big guest-starring news that we’ve heard about Hawaii Five-0 season 8, following the news of Chris Vance returning for the first time in a while. (Read more about that role over at the link here.) Beyond these two, there’s obviously a lot to be intrigued by thanks to all of the promotions plus some of the new characters who are joining the ohana this time around.
Will this all be enough to generate some excitement?
We hope so, since we do remain hopeful that, even with all of the changes, Hawaii Five-0 can once again be a great destination for entertainment. The bar was set pretty high in season 8, which was probably its strongest creatively. It also marked a significant ratings renaissance for the show, serving as one of the few on the broadcast schedule to actually improve year-to-year in most key measures. It and MacGyver proved themselves to be a formidable combination, and it should prove very much interesting seeing how the performances of these shows continue to fare moving into this fall. They’re more established now as a lineup, which is probably good in terms of creative and understanding themselves. However, MacGyver won’t have the same sort of buzz that it once did, and it remains to be seen just what sort of buzz Hawaii Five-0 is going to have without Daniel Dae Kim or Grace Park around.

They can book whoever they want as guest stars, without DDK and Grace Park, I won’t be watching.

I’m going to miss them both so much. I love Daniel ever since I first saw him on Lost. He’s just brilliant!
