Major Crimes season 6 and the bizarre premiere-date waiting game
Earlier this week, there was the perfect opportunity to make this official at Turner’s presentation during the TCA Summer Press Tour. The premiere date for Good Behavior season 2 was confirmed, and it would’ve been very easy for Kevin Reilly or someone else with the TNT team to come up and say when we could see Sharon Raydor and company on our TV screens again. The series has been off the air since the spring; the hiatus probably would not be so bad were it not for the fact that this is a show that typically comes on in the summer. With that expectation, the wait for a new premiere date has only increased tenfold.
So when will it actually be announced? Hopefully, at some point within the next month! It makes sense for TNT to get the word out there on more episodes at a time in which viewers can prepare for them, especially since we know Good Behavior by now. They should also want to use The Last Ship, one of their more-popular shows premiering a little bit later this summer, as a means to further promote it. (It makes sense to announce launch dates a couple of months before the show actually airs.)
Given that the projected return for the show has always been in the fall, we don’t necessarily see the premiere date being pushed past October. Our biggest fear is mostly just that it’s announced too soon before it is supposed to come back on the air, and then, in turn, there isn’t a whole lot of an audience around in order to check the show out. We were not a fan of the scheduling swap that happened at the end of this past season with the show airing against both Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Minds, and we’re worried already about it going up against some programming in the fall when it could’ve fared well in the summer.
In the end, though, the biggest thing that we should say here is just that we’re surprised that we got through this week without something official as of yet for the new Major Crimes season. We want to believe that they have something planned that will drum up plenty of publicity and attention, but we’re acutely aware that this could just be a pipe dream and they may not have anything of this variety prepared at all.

The sooner the better! And let’s see the season extended well beyond the initial 13 episodes.

Since it is now a fall premiere, it sure would be nice if TNT would give it some of the hype and publicity a Fall premiere show deserves. Any kind of promotion and publicity is appreciated for this steady producer for TNT and what I think es a great ensemble show led by a fabulous actress.

I hope so! I want the show to get a worthy campaign, especially since casual viewers may forget about it if they don’t.
