Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17 spoilers: Clary’s Jonathan struggle

As we move into Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17, it’s clear that one of the big things that Clary will struggle with is her brother. Jonathan is still out there, and that’s something that she will have a hard time dealing with. In one way or another, she has to figure out what to make of some of the information that she’s learned. Given where we are in the story right now, things are only going to become more and more intense, and that will likely lead to a major showdown by the end of the season.

Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17 synopsis – “Clary struggles with the idea that her brother Jonathan is pure evil when it appears he is hunting down the mortal mirror for Valentine’s use.”

With this in mind, the biggest thing that we’re hoping for here is something crazy to unfold when it comes to Clary and Jonathan, that way the emotional stakes are at a higher level. One of the elements of the Clary / Valentine dynamic that makes it so much more challenging is the inevitable tie between them. Clary may want to avoid it, but that’s pretty darn hard for her to do in the end.

About the promo

Well, this is clearly going to be where some of the you-know-what hits the fan, as Sebastian/Jonathan will realize that there is some shot at redemption here courtesy of Clary. Yet, at the same time he’s this evil person who doesn’t have the ability to show many of their true feelings beyond rage. Clary also is still completely oblivious that the answer to her Jonathan question is right before her eyes, and we’re not sure when he’s going to be keen on telling her.

Given that there are only four episodes left this season, doesn’t this still feel like some information that has to come out sooner rather than later? If not, then the show is mostly spinning its wheels and waiting for the one scene that will get people talking — well, one of many, anyway. You can also include on that list some of the possibilities with Jace and Clary at the moment after everything that they’ve gone through.
