Supernatural season 13: Jensen Ackles arrives to start filming
As to what the specific story is going to be for season 13, that’s one of the big mysteries at the moment. We know that the season 12 finale ended with the apparent deaths of both Crowley and Castiel; given that Mark Sheppard has no plans to ever return to the series, it seems as though one of those deaths with stick. As for Castiel, the only thing that we can say is that Misha Collins is going to be around in some capacity. What that capacity will be is one of the bigger mysteries that we have at the moment.
There are two major stories that are at the moment confirmed for the new season, starting with the odd / hilarious idea of a Scooby-Doo crossover. It’s probably one of the most random properties that the show ever could have been paired up with, but Supernatural has done some awfully weird episodes over the years. As a result of that, we’re very much excited to see what the show decides to do here when Sam and Dean meet Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, Velma, and of course the famous dog. Hopefully, some more exciting mysteries will unfold! (Also, we have a mental image of Dean calling them “meddling kids.”
The second story is the currently-planted spin-off idea that could star Kim Rhodes as Sheriff Mills and a bevy of other familiar faces. It’d be great to get a Supernatural story that is consistently through a different perspective, and these feel like the right characters to make that happen. The only issue at the moment is that there’s no clear timetable as to when that backdoor pilot is going to be filmed, let alone when it will air over the course of the season.
