Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular: Jennifer Lopez, Hailee Steinfeld, more performing in 2017 edition
Want to know a little bit more about what to expect during the show? Then just take a look at what NBC’s official synopsis has to say about the occasion:
NBC celebrates Independence Day in style with the annual broadcast of “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” on Tuesday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT). The broadcast features some of the biggest names in music, including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Antebellum, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Charlie Puth and Hailee Steinfeld, as the nation counts down to the 41st annual firework display over the East River. The show will be hosted by “American Ninja Warrior’s” Akbar Gbajabiamila, Matt Iseman and Kristine Leahy. The incredible pyrotechnic spectacle, igniting the skyline with more than 60,000 shells launched from five barges positioned in midtown, will be the country’s largest display in over a decade and promises to be a must-see show from coast-to-coast. The incredible display will be accompanied by the West Point Band and their awe-inspiring musical tribute, “ANTHEM,” along with the West Point Glee Club. The live broadcast will be immediately followed by an encore presentation (10-11 p.m. ET/PT).
One of our biggest takeaways from all of this is that NBC is leaning very much on American Ninja Warrior these days, not that we mind all that much given that this is one of their most-popular shows. Also, Iseman was on The Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year, so he’s almost pulling triple-duty now with this gig!
There is also some other network synergy with this lineup, given the fact that you’ve got Lopez taking part. She is of course the star of Shades of Blue, and she’s also a judge and executive producer on World of Dance this summer, which was recently renewed for a second season. In general, she’s got a great deal invested into making this show as big and exciting as possible, since this is a great platform to promote everything else that she has going on.
Of course, there is some other TV happening on July 4…
If you missed it, we have a full list of some of the marathons happening today over at the link here. There isn’t much else beyond this special / others out there when it comes to new programming.
Beyond that, we hope that everyone out there has a happy and safe July 4! Enjoy the occasion, and of course we’ll be around to cater to all of your TV needs throughout the summer and beyond. (Photo: NBC.)
