America’s Got Talent: Celine Tam, at nine years old, wows with Celine Dion
In the video below, you can see the nine-year old hit the stage to perform the famed song from Titanic in My Heart Will Go On. It’s a very difficult song to sing, but she does it with poise, with good pitch, and with a little bit of showmanship. She’s also got very few signs of nerves when she gets on the stage, and what’s probably the most impressive is how easy her rapport is with the judges. She looks and acts like this is something that she’s just done for most of her life — which is somewhat accurate, given that she’s been singing for many years already.
Celine is coming on the show with a bit of performance / TV history already. Like Darci Lynne, she has performed previously on Little Big Shots before making it on here. She’s also performed all over the world, but this is her biggest stage to date. Ever since this video went online, she’s already scored millions of views! To think, this is probably just the beginning of her having a career that spans many years.
If there is one note we’d give her when doing this song, it’s to get a little more raw and have a little more fire after the key change — that’s something that many people who cover it don’t often do, but it helps to demonstrate the passion that is present here.
After watching this audition, it’s hard to think that anyone would say that Celine will go home — she’s making it to the next round, and she could very easily be a golden buzzer in the Judge Cuts round if she’s not here. Kid singers do tend to do very well on this show — ask Grace VanderWaal or Bianca Ryan from the very first season. It’s easy to envision a situation where she goes on and wins the whole thing with the right songs behind her.
Do you think that Celine Tam could be the America’s Got Talent winner at the end of the season, and is it annoying to anyone else that AGT is calling what is effectively a video preview a “leak” when they’re putting it out themselves? Share below!
