Psych movie: Chuck star Zachary Levi appearing; rejoicing ensues
In a new post on Twitter, the two guys confirmed that Chuck star Zachary Levi is going to be appearing in the movie! While details are somewhat vague, TVLine reports that he will be the movie’s villain, a mysterious guy known only as “Thin White Dude.” Levi as a villain here should be endlessly entertaining, especially since he comes across so over-the-top when he appears in this video (which of course features a famous pineapple to add to the fun).
This movie is fittingly known only as Psych: The Movie, and is going to come on the air this summer. The show’s original cast is poised to return, and production continues on it now in Vancouver. As for how the show manages to update the story given the series finale remains to be seen — remember that both Jules and Vick both left Santa Barbara for San Francisco at the end of the show, and it’s not entirely clear just how much of an opportunity that they would have in order to work with Lassiter or anyone else in Santa Barbara. there may still be some fun ways to make this work; we feel like creator Steve Franks and Roday (who is co-writing the episode) will have figured that out.
Is there a part of us that hopes that the performance of this movie leads to the show returning, even if it’s just a six or eight episode season airing once or twice a year? Absolutely, but that’s far from a sure thing. We just want the movie to be a fun celebration of this show and much of what we enjoyed about it from the entirety of the time that it was on the air. That means that there are all sorts of silly moments, funny one-liners, and the return of many beloved gags such as the pineapple, Gus constantly eating, and Shawn introducing him under a fake name whenever the two parties are working a case.
