MasterChef season 8 episode 3 exclusive: Mark takes on Gordon Ramsay

Mark

MasterChef season 8 episode 3 is airing on Fox on Wednesday night, and judging from the exclusive sneak peek below, one contestant in Mark is going to be feeling the wrath of Gordon Ramsay.

What does he do to cause this? Well, if there’s one thing that Gordon hates, it’s contestants who show a bit of snark in the kitchen and act as though they’re above it all. Mark makes a snide comment to fellow contestant Heather about how she should “do what I do” and ignore the judges’ feedback; that’s enough for Gordon to snap back at Mark and make it clear to him that if he fends the competition to be a joke, he can head out the door.

Will this be enough to whip Mark into shape? You better hope so. He’s far from the first contestant to draw the ire of Gordon, and this isn’t necessarily a death sentence for him by any means. Odds are, he’s just the sort of guy who has a dry sense of humor and tells these kind of jokes in life. This is a new environment, so like everyone else he’s learning what flies in this competition and what doesn’t. He probably wants to win, but he also probably wants to have a good time. He’ll have to find a different way to channel that if he wants to be a part of this experience.

Wednesday’s episode is the first one of this season to follow what is the traditional MasterChef format. With that in mind, over this episode you can anticipate that there will be a Mystery Box Challenge, followed after the fact with some sort of standard elimination challenge where at least one home cook will go home. This is the meat of the competition to keep the culinary puns going, and this is where we should have a chance to learn a little bit more about the home cooks and their style of cooking. While the opening episodes are exciting, you are spending so much time getting to know people that it can be rather hard to keep track.
