NCIS season 15: Jennifer Esposito comments further on departure
One of the most interesting things about her post on Twitter (beyond that we’re happy that she’s doing well and healthy) is that this apparently Alex Quinn was not meant to be a role that would keep her on the show for a long time. Nonetheless, she’s “happy” to have been there and made some great new friends.
With this new information in mind, it seems as though this was a move Esposito was expecting at one point or another, and it is the second straight series for her where her character had a quick departure after only one season. Remember her part as Calista Raines on ABC’s Mistresses?
Beyond Esposito’s exit, what seems to be forming here is an interesting trend of CBS crime shows rejiggering their casts after adding some new members to them. Remember, over on Criminal Minds there is also a little bit of a shakeup, with Damon Gupton leaving the show after joining at around midseason. His departure, per his posts on social media, seemed to be more a decision of producers than something that he had any say in.
Filming for NCIS season 15, and it remains to be seen whether or not the show is going to bring in anyone else in order to replace Jennifer. There are new showrunners who stepped in following the death of Gary Glasberg, and this is their first summer where they have to start to ponder over the story and figure out just what it is that they want to do moving forward. Our hope is that they focus on developing the characters more that they already have, and if they bring someone else in, it should only be someone who they have a great take on as opposed to hiring someone for the sake of doing so.
