Supergirl season 3 spoilers: Odette Annable set to play Big Bad Reign
The CW has confirmed that the Brothers & Sisters / House alum is playing the Big Bad of the upcoming season, a powerful being from the “Worldkiller” race who was teased at the end of season 2. While a recent addition to the DC Comics universe, she is an extremely dangerous person capable of causing a ton of trouble for Kara Danvers and every other main character currently on the show.
Annable is not going to appear in every episode for the upcoming season, but you should still expect her to have a significant role and make an appearance in the majority of installments.
In a statement, show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg makes it clear that Odette is someone that he’s wanted to have on the show for a rather long time now:
“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years … We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”
The word “heartbreaking” is the one that bears the most interest to us given that it suggests that this part will have a lot more depth than it does even within the comics. There is a good sense of what that could be depending on how closely the show stays to the source material. Just remember for a moment that within the comics, Reign was a character basically born and bred to be a killer. She didn’t know any other complete way of life, and maybe that’s going to be brought up in part as this character starts to have a foothold on National City.
One other interesting avenue worth exploring here is simply getting a chance to know a little bit more about what the show is going to make Reign look like appearance-wise. After all, in the event that she is similar to her comic-book counterpart, there is a reasonably good chance that she is going to spend many hours of the day just in the makeup chair.
