The Night Shfit season 4 primer: Prepare for the premiere!
The first thing to know is that, per the official NBC trailer below, the series will return on Thursday, June 22 to the network. Unfortunately, beyond that this trailer is not going to give you any further insight into what is coming on the story. The entirety of the footage within this clip comes from the third season, and exists more for the sake of catching you up on the story ahead than giving you a sense as to what is coming.
Nonetheless, this trailer is probably a good reminder that almost everyone almost died at the end of the third season, whether it be with a deadly fire stateside or a dangerous blast overseas. Scott, Jordan, TC, and many other familiar faces will be reeling in the wake of what they’ve been through. They may also reeling because of the departure of one Ken Leung, who played Topher on the series. The actor is now a part of the ambitious new Inhumans series coming to ABC a little later this year, which has a launch so ambitious that it’s airing in IMAX. He will be sorely missed on the show, but it’s absolutely a thrill to see that he’s going to be getting an opportunity to take part in some other compelling stuff.
Moving into season 4 story-wise, there are questions about relationships (will Jordan want to be with TC or Scott in the end), medical cases like no others, and also the stress weighing down on everyone from Kenny to Drew to Paul. With new potential leadership, that is something that everyone will have to start getting accustomed to, and it is absolutely not going to be easy.
As you’ve already seen at this point, the image above is the new official key art for the season. As much as it’s said around here that The Night Shift never gets enough promotion, at least the folks over at NBC have created some pretty beautiful new art for it.
