Scorpion season 3 finale spoilers: A new society, or a ‘Waige’ dream?
Look at it this way — despite being stranded on a deserted island for three weeks, everyone in this preview is getting along pretty great. Walter and Paige are being romantic with each other, everyone is contributing, and it seems like there’s an overall sense of happiness. Spirits are high, and there’s a mini-society going on. It’s certainly more functional than any of the tribes on Survivor have ever been!
Now, is it too perfect? One of the possible theories behind this being a dream is that in the flash-forward at the end of this past episode, Sylvester had a beard. Here, he is sans beard. Unless someone attacked him with a razor, this doesn’t seem right. Also, how can anyone get along this well after spending that much time on an island together with no distractions? The synopsis for Monday’s episode already set up precisely how tense the entire situation will be, so the idea of this potential illusion crumbling is something to be prepared for.
No matter the context, this preview is one that brings a smile just because there’s so much life in the characters; these are the people viewers want to see, and it’s one of the reasons for the show’s popularity. It’s nice to go into a season finale knowing that there are so many interesting storytelling possibilities with Waige and beyond. Also, it’s nice to know this with the understanding that Scorpion already has a season 4 renewal locked in, so there is no immediate reason to have concern for the future of the show. It’s coming back in the fall, and that will be a good chance to pick up wherever the story this season leaves off. It’s a little too early to determine where that will be, but indications suggest that there won’t be a super-insane cliffhanger.
