The Toy Box: Jumpstix, Maze-O, Dueling Wizards, Plaliens, and Wiggies (preview)

Plaliens

The Toy Box on Friday night is bringing you Wiggies, Jumpstix, Maze-O, Dueling Wizards, and Plaliens — there’s a ton of imagination here! Some of these toys are capable of making it to the finale, and also getting that deal with Mattel in the closing minutes.

As we’ve done with every other snapshot going into this episode of the show, we’ve got a look at some of the toys below (briefly). By the end of the episode, we’ll be back with a little more news as to which product advanced! Expect this to be fun, and expect in the process that Eric Stonestreet is going to have some funny banter — as the host of this three-ring circus, he’s one of the biggest reasons to date why this has worked and been fairly effective entertainment.

Wiggies – dolls with interchangeable hair Inventor: Kim from Los Angeles, California

Depending on what the hairstyles are and the look of the dolls, maybe this works. So far this season, dolls haven’t quite panned out that well.

Jumpstix – a scooter with a built-in pogo stick Inventor: Peter from Camarillo, California

This sounds a lot of fun. We don’t know if the judges before the kids will be concerned about any safety concerns here, just because these shows tend to be pretty conservative in that department.

Maze-O – a maze-building toy
Inventor: Jessica and Daniel from Lino Lakes, Minnesota

Basically with this you’re combining both engineering with problem-solving, and it could be a good toy for kids who really like to test themselves.

Dueling Wizards – aspiring wizards use wands to toss spells at each other Inventor: Joe from Dearborn, Michigan

As a kid who was all into this sort of stuff, we’d be all about this. It’s basically live-action role-playing for kids! It’s a little niche, but probably fun.

Plaliens – playful plush aliens that inspire curiosity Inventor: Melanie and Beth from Bakersfield, California

It’s a little early to say just how these creatures inspire curiosity, but these could be totally cute and, depending on the variety, something that could have widespread and long-lasting appeal.

Which one of these toys sounds the best to you on paper? Be sure to give us a sense now in the attached comments!
