Roseanne revival potentially coming; ABC, other networks in discussions
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert are all in discussions to come back to the famous ABC sitcom for another eight episodes. While ABC is considered a favorite to bring the series back on the air, at the moment, this is not a sure thing and there are some other interested parties. If you remember, Full House aired on ABC before Fuller House went over to Netflix, so we absolutely think that it’s possible that we end up seeing something rather similar happen here. At the moment, though, our preference would be to see the show stay on the network where it first found fame all over the world.
The site also reports that there are some other actors also in discussions to reprise their roles, so we’ll see who ends up coming back.
The idea of a Roseanne revival is very interesting given that while there are people who do remember it fondly and consider it to be one of the biggest sitcoms of all time, we never have heard an intense demand from the masses to bring it back. Roseanne’s own outspoken beliefs could make her a polarizing commodity in 2017, though we would hope that the show’s viewers would separate those from what happens in the episodes. This is a show designed to make people laugh, and we know that Roseanne is one of the funniest people who’s ever worked in TV. Therefore, there is some significant merit behind the idea of bringing the show back.
Ultimately, we’ll see what happens here, but we think that if the cast of Roseanne is willing to get back together, networks would be out of their mind to not consider it. Even if we don’t ultimately know how it’s going to fare in the year 2017, at the same time it has such upside that networks would be stupid to not look at the property and think about what it could bring to the table.
