Outlander season 3 notes: Sam Heughan shoot; Caitriona Balfe ‘wound’

Sam Heughan shoot

For today’s edition of Outlander season 3 notes, we’re having a little bit of fun and discussing a Sam Heughan shoot and Caitriona Balfe on set.

Let’s start off here with Sam, courtesy of the new image (see above) that is from his latest campaign with Barbour, of which he is the global brand ambassador. (Sam certainly feels truly global right now, given that the brand in quintessential Scotland whereas he is currently in South Africa.)

As a man, there are a few different takeaways that we have from looking at the ad:

1. Very nice shirt.

2. We want a dog like this who is so obedient and actually faces the camera.

3. It feels like the odds of tripping on those rocks are pretty high. Luckily, Sam seems to be a bit more graceful than we are. If we were in this location, we’d totally be trying to recreate the picture, even if it meant falling on our face here or there.

Even if he is halfway around the world, Sam continues to support the brand as a part of his portfolio, which also includes of course his My Peak Challenge initiative in support of the Bloodwise charity. Having designated causes and brands is something that we’re seeing more and more actors / professionals do in this given era.

We feel Caitriona Balfe’s pain

As for Sam’s co-star, she posted a photo earlier this week of what appeared to be a minor on-set mishap between the two of them. She shared this in the midst of executive producer Maril Davis’ Q&A session, which if you missed you can check out highlights of by heading over to the link here.

Sam jokingly fired back at Cait after the fact, claiming that it looked “self-inflicted” to him. This is all just another reminder that despite working long hours in and around Cape Town, the mood still seems to be good for both of the two leads. That’s a good thing, given that there are still a few more episodes to go until filming wraps for the third season. From there, they can take a chance to let all of the various wounds, bumps, and bruises of production heal before season 4 starts up presumably later in the year.
