Agents of SHIELD season 5 odds still rising; NCIS, Bull hit lows
Last night’s super-sad episode (read more on that over at the link here) drew a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is an improvement from the week before. This rating and the show’s 2.5 million viewers were its best overall audience since January 10, which says a lot in a time in which many other shows are completely starting to tank out in the ratings. We still realize that a 0.8 isn’t great, so the one thing we’d advocate for is a 13-episode season next year. We know that Inhumans is airing in the fall, so why not pair it up with Agents of SHIELD in the spring? Give us the best of both worlds.
ABC has until May to make their decision of the future, but Agents of SHIELD as of late has performed just as well or better than Once Upon a Time, Quantico, The Catch, and American Crime. It’s showing itself worthy of another shot.
Bad news – For fans of iZombie, the show only scored a 0.3 rating. While it didn’t have a lead-in on the night, we’re starting to get increasingly concerned as to its own future on the air. The Originals has performed better as of late, and it’s airing in a Friday death slot.
What’s wrong over at CBS? – It would be wrong to look at the numbers for NCIS and Bull and think that they’re solely indicative of their own failures. The two shows drew some of their lowest ratings yet, after all, in a 1.3 and a 1.1. The reality here is that the network’s strategy of catering to an older crowd seems to be catching up to them, and whether it be via streaming or DVR machines, they’re not getting many younger audiences checking out their shows live.
Anyway, at least both shows are officially returning for another season, in this instance.
