Once Upon a Time season 6 spoilers: Latest on Snow / Charming’s future

Mrs. Carter: Will the Snow / Charming relationship on Once Upon a Time season 6 have a happily-ever-after sort of ending?

Odds are, at this point you’ve heard the multitude of reports that Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas are leaving the show. The fact that there’s been no news about them renegotiating is pretty telling, and we don’t know if the producers would’ve planned for some sort of “reset” otherwise.

With this in mind, we almost have to plan for the future of Once Upon a Time in such a way where the two characters do leave after the season, and we want there to be time for the spotlight to shine on the two of them before that. Luckily, it does seem like that’s going to come on the episode “Awake” airing a little bit later this season. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Adam Horowitz made it clear that this will be a “big Snow/Charming episode, where we flash back to another chapter of their past which we haven’t seen in full. We think it is, as befitting the couple that started the show, an incredibly romantic story showing just how powerful their love is.”

Doesn’t that sound hopeful to you? we’re not sure how the show can be more positive or optimistic when it comes to the pair’s future as a couple, and the chances that they could have everything that they want by the time they depart (provided that happens). Despite whatever sort of hardship these characters go through, we do absolutely think that they want them to be happy at the end of the day. In turn, the show certainly does not want its viewers to feel dismayed that the entire journey wasn’t worth it.

The only alternative thing that we could see the show doing when it comes to an end for “Snowing” is offering up some sort of small cliffhanger, knowing that they’ll be able to get Goodwin and Dallas back for some sort of small appearance down the road. We definitely can imagine them back for the series finale, or some other major milestone down the line depending on however long the show lasts. The ratings aren’t great, but they’re still better than many other ABC shows.
