NCIS season 14, episode 19 review: Case at Honor Flight Network event in DC, guest star Bruce McGill

On NCIS Tuesday night viewers were on the edge of their seats as they were offered an action packed episode of the CBS show. Called to a murder at an event for the Honor Flight Network, the team had an unwilling witness that didn’t want to be part of an investigation even though he held the biggest clues. The question was, how was this victim killed only feet from a large group? And why didn’t the witness notice?

Dispatching the agents to solve different parts of the story, Agent Gibbs appears to dissect the crime in short order. Narrowing down the suspects, it appears that the killer found out the Marine knew her secret and the death had nothing to do with the veterans visiting Washington. It was discovered that the death was connected to a company looking to silence a whistleblower as the information could have costed the killer millions if ever revealed.

The grumpy Vietnam War veteran, Henry Rogers (who was played by the legendary Bruce McGill), had everyone at NCIS feeling uncomfortable. Talk about a difficult witness! The decision for MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves to watch the witness came from the top as Director Vance recognized it was the best choice. While Reeves assumed it would be an easy job, the feisty witness repeatedly gave the agent the slip. It was Agent Gibbs who offered up an explanation of where to find him and why Rogers was so tough for Reeves to handle.

One of the most delightful moments on the show was an in depth look at the Honor Flight Network. This is a real, amazing non-profit that arranges trips for American veterans to visit the World War II, Korea and Vietnam War Memorials for free. Looking to honor those Americans who were in the war and accommodating as many service members as possible, the CBS show offered a glimpse on a program offered to veterans who want to travel to Washington, D.C. Even NCIS fans could help by offering up a small donation to cover expenses of these American heroes.

While the fans watched as the crime was pulled apart and the killer was found, another story was being investigated. Thanks to the gossiping chatter of Agent McGee and Agent Bishop, they deciphered a juicy rumor that Quinn and Torres were once a couple albeit only for a short time. Looking for clues, the two agents begin to call colleagues and quiz the alleged couple in question. Finding a karaoke video online, it appeared that it was a sure bet, but that wasn’t a smoking gun. It was Agent Quinn and Agent Torres who directly rebuffed the rumors around the office, but they might have just been covering. Fans are still left wondering.

We enjoyed the episode of “NCIS” on Tuesday night. The scene at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington was moving and an ongoing reminder that veterans have protected our borders, offered us freedom and many have given the ultimate sacrifice. Least we never forget they are our American heroes as they deserve our ultimate respect. Episode Grade: A.
