NCIS season 14: Latest Cote de Pablo returning rumor very late, very wrong
Do we want to see Ziva on the show again someday? Absolutely. We feel like we’ve stated that many times over at this point. She was one of our favorite characters, and we’ve missed her ever since she departed back in season 11.
Unfortunately, for the time being at least, it seems that this ship has sailed. Ziva appears to be dead on the show, Michael Weatherly is off working on his new series Bull, and we don’t see Cote returning other than a perfect-storm scenario in which you have both Michael available and also a story compelling enough to get everyone interested. It’s possible in theory, and we’d love to see Ziva be somewhere secretly alive, but it doesn’t appear to be on the show’s radar. We’ve had a few Tony mentions here and there this season, but that’s really it.
The reason this is even coming up today is because of a new Latin Post story claiming that there are rumors about a Ziva return, citing another story that is almost a year old. They also have the nerve to cite it as a “new” report, another head-scratcher since there’s nothing new about. The report shamelessly cites former showrunner Gary Glasberg, even though he sadly passed away this past fall.
So why discuss something that is so obviously false? The real answer is that they want to bring in readers in hopes that some will interpret it as truth. We wouldn’t want anyone out there to have false hope, since we know how passionate Ziva fans are. If Cote does somehow happen to come back, there’s no insight coming from this report at all. Dismiss it and push it out of your mind, and be rest assured when there is some credible information (if that ever happens), we’ll have it for you down the road. Maybe there’s a slight possibility something could be done for a huge milestone episode or a series finale down the road, but the operative word there is “slight.” We’re not counting on it.

I was so sick of all the ridiculous rumors I wouldn’t even retweet or add links to them for ages.

When Ziva’s character left, the show lost a lot of appeal. It’s obvious, by the ratings, it was a mistake to let Cote and Michael leave.

They both wanted to leave. Cote made it clear she wasn’t happy with the storylines saying they were too political, and she hurt herself a number of times as well. She also wanted more time with her family. Michael wanted something different to do. They both have said for the right story they might come back but not permanently. Its sad when a show changes cast but the new ones fit in fine, they deserve support for the great show it still is. Everything in life changes, even ficticious tv shows.

Um, yeah, the ratings are still great? Particularly for a show in its 14th season. And the fact that you think they somehow “let” them leave as if the two actors didn’t have the final call is so disrespectful to two actors we all (mostly) enjoyed the hell out of. They were ready to move on. Whatever their reasons, it was time, and to keep harping on this with specious evidence is, well, kinda sad. And again, disrespectful to both actors, particularly MW who’s been very honest and open about why he left. Be happy. Change is good. I miss Tony A LOT, but seriously, why be anything but accepting of something you only have part of the story of and absolutely no power over? Honestly, it’s time to move on.
