Arrow season 5 episode 18: Stephen Amell, David Ramsay on ‘Disbanded’
In the new video below, you can see both of the actors speaking at PaleyFest about what’s going to be coming up during the new episode Wednesday, specifically in terms of Oliver’s new broken, devastated state. He’s realized thanks to Adrian Chase that there is no value in him as the Green Arrow, and he believes that however much good he provides, he takes away because of his methods. He’s killed, and more than that, he’s killed because he liked it rather because it was the right thing to do. In his mind, there’s nothing left to do other than disband the team. This is something that Amell specifically mentions in this video.
Meanwhile, Ramsey seems to indicate that if you’re a fan of Original Team Arrow (i.e. Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle), this is going to be a great episode for you as these three are going to be center stage trying to figure out what to do. Felicity and Diggle may try to push him to keep fighting, but there could be some push-back. It also doesn’t help that Chase is still working at the Mayor’s office.
The question we wonder is this — if Adrian no longer has Susan Williams, what’s stopping someone like Quentin Lance or Rene from knocking the guy out? We imagine that this is going to be a subject that the show explores more over the course of the hour. It is, after all, going to be integral in determining how we carve a path forward into the final episodes for the season. (We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is going to be a hiatus coming soon that lasts for the next several weeks.)
The pressure’s not only on for Diggle and Felicity to figure things out with Oliver, but the same goes for the show as a whole. This is the best Arrow we’ve seen since season 2, and we’re also coming off of Amell’s best performance of the entire series to date. We even labeled Josh Segarra a darkhorse Emmy contender last week.
