Once Upon a Time season 6 casts Andrew J. West of The Walking Dead for finale

Once Upon a Time season 6 casts Andrew J. West -

For those of you wanting another reason to be excited, the headlines says it all: Once Upon a Time season 6 casts Andrew J. West. The man behind Gareth on The Walking Dead will be joining the land of fairytales a little later this season. The big mystery, at least for now, is who he will end up playing.

According to TVLine, the role for West could end up making him a series regular in the event that the show is picked up for a seventh season in the air. The site also alludes to the possibility that we could end up seeing him play one of the mystery roles that they’d recently mentioned of a loner who has been beaten down by life, and was at one point an optimist who really did try and seek out some of the better things that were out there in the world.

Note that we’ve heard many a theory about this role over the course of the past several days, and one of the biggest prevailing theories out there is a pretty simple one: He’s playing the role of an adult Henry. This does make some sense given that we see West resembling an older Henry in some ways, and we could also see him doing a good job of having some of that repressed optimism and hope. As for why the show would need to age Henry up, we hope that this is not one of those things where they simply reset the show where Henry is the new Emma and almost everything surrounding him has changed significantly.

One other question: If this Henry theory is true, why does this show keep taking away elements of its characters’ childhood? Emma barely had one, given that she had to fend for herself from a very early age. Meanwhile, we also just saw on the show Rumple and Belle’s son Gideon go from being a baby to being an adult virtually overnight. (Sure, he did actually grow up somewhere, but it was the realm of the Black Fairly and we didn’t really see any of it.)

We’re intrigued to see what happens with this casting — for now, we think it’s best to give them the benefit of the doubt.
