American Horror Story season 7 not featuring Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton as characters.
For those of you wondering if there were Donald Trump – Hillary Clinton American Horror Story casting notices going out there, we’ve got an answer.
Speaking (per Indiewire) while at the Publicists Guild Awards luncheon, the prolific showrunner clarified some comments he made recently on Watch What Happens Live! about the upcoming seventh season, which is meant to revolve around the Presidential Election. Specifically, he made it clear that he is not out to cast versions of either the current President or his opponent on this past election:
“The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories. You will not see Trump and Clinton as characters on the show.”
You can read this and think more than anything that the seventh season of the FX anthology series was inspired by what we saw play out with Clinton and Trump, but not so much anything directly involved. It seems somewhat odd for him to turn the Democratic and Republican Parties into horror shows that are somewhat more than what they currently are. Therefore, maybe the divisions and the anger that pervaded through the two of them will be the real theme. There may be characters here who act out as a result of what happened during the election.
While it may be somewhat confusing to know what exactly Murphy meant on the Andy Cohen talk show at all now given this new context, it’s fine to have a little faith. Remember for a minute or two here that this is a man who’s provided some wonderful entertainment over the years, and if there is anyone that we should really believe in, it’s him. Hasn’t he earned that from us at this point? If you ignore Hotel for a moment, we’d argue that every other edition of the franchise had some merit. Not all of them were perfect, but Roanoke in particular was a nice comeback series and one that had a cohesive beginning, middle, and end with twists along the way.
