‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 15 preview: When is a wedding not a wedding?
Take a breath for a minute and realize that we’re almost to the end of “The Vampire Diaries” as a series. We’ve seen dozens of breakups, doesn’t of hookups, dozens of people being killed off, and more ‘shipper names than we could ever fit into a single article. (We’ve also had plenty of questions about how the Mystic Grill stays in business given how it’s been frequent source of conflict.)
This is a show with passionate fans, and we’re pretty sure as a result of that there was a passionate reaction when the title for the March 3 episode was revealed: “We’re Planning a June Wedding.” That said passion probably exploded off into a dozen or so different directions once some of the first details about said episode started to come out.
Synopsis – “A wedding is quickly planned in order for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to lure a dangerous enemy out into the open. This looming threat puts the fate of Mystic Falls in eminent danger and must be destroyed.”
Basically, the title gives you the sense that a wedding is coming, and then the synopsis makes it seem as though Ashton Kutcher is going to be popping up at some point in order to proclaim that we’ve all been “Punk’d.” Could we really be shafted the wedding of the century (or at least the series) just for the sake of a trick? It’s possible, but maybe we can have it both ways and get everything we want. Remember here the #1 rule of all TV weddings: They’re NEVER according to plan. They often happen, but mostly after a series of missteps that include tears, heartbreak, and someone being a total toolbox and doing their part to try and ruin everything.
Whatever happens, it’s all going to lead into the series finale a.k.a. the return of Nina Dobrev a.k.a. the moment that will probably give even more viewers of the show anxiety.
