‘Victoria’ episode 6 preview (PBS): The Regent decision
“Victoria” is a show that moves rather quickly, but you almost have to expect that given everything that we’ve seen from it over the course of the past several weeks. It’s a series, after all, that has a LONG period of history to cover, and there are many key revelations that it wanted to get to. We feel like this was probably even more the case over the course of the first season, given that for much of it there was still uncertainty as to whether or not there would be more down the road. (Luckily, we do know now that it is coming back for another batch of episodes.)
Moving into next week, you’re going to see Jenna Coleman’s title character expecting a child, and with that, you will see her making a tough decision. This is one that many royals had to go through in this time period, given that dying while giving birth to a child was a fairly common occurrence. (This may still happen today, but we’re not enough of a Royal expert to know much about naming a Regent.)
Synopsis (via TV Guide) – “A pregnant Victoria chooses a regent in case she dies while giving birth. The Tory party is upset with her choice, however.”
The idea of a political party being upset with someone’s choice has to be one of the least surprising things you’ll ever here, given the fact that this tends to happen no matter what someone does almost every second of the day. Victoria has had her struggles as a young Queen trying to tune out some of the noise that surrounds her, but we do have a feeling that she’s going to be able to do so here given that she CLEARLY has some more important priorities, such as welcoming a child into the world.
Now, the shocking admission: We’re not that far from the end of this season! Time sure flies…
